What is kinesio taping?
Kinesio taping is a type of taping that speeds up recovery from injury and improves fitness. It is a coloured tape that is applied on both the injury site and nearby lymphatic system. It is easy to apply but must be applied by a physiotherapist so that it is applied correctly for effective treatment.

How does kinesio taping help?
At the injury site there is extra blood and lymph under the skin which causes pain receptors to fire, creating pain. Kinesio tape lifts the skin which allows blood and lymph at the injury site to disperse, reducing pain. Kinesio tape has other benefits including:
- Supporting muscles
- Improving kinaesthetic awareness (awareness of body in space)
- Helping to position muscles and joints
- Reduces over-stretching of muscles
- Allows range of movement
- Reducing inflammation

- Herniated disc
- Muscle injuries
- Sciatica
- Plantar fasciitis
- Shoulder impingement
- Tennis/Golfers elbow
- Ankle sprain
- Knee pain
