Botulinum toxin injections cause the muscles to relax, therefore increasing range of movement at the joint. Approximately one week after the injections, your physiotherapist will start an intensive hands-on stretching regime involving muscle mobilisations, soft tissue massage and practice of functional movement patterns. It is important that you continue with exercises at home in order to maintain the increased range of movement and make maximal functional improvement.
