Assessment
Initially your physiotherapist will complete an in-depth assessment of your current condition. Your physiotherapist will need to understand the nature of your condition and how it is affecting you before they can decide whether lycra orthotics are suitable for you.
If you are suitable for treatment with Lycra Orthotics your therapist will take a series of detailed measurements to ensure the garment is tailor made specifically for you.
Treatment
Lycra orthotics are a long term treatment which require dedication from the users or carers. For lycra orthotics to be successful the orthotic must be worn daily. Typically the orthotic will be worn throughout the day for up to six hours, seven days a week. Your physiotherapist will advise you on gradually building up your tolerance to wearing the orthotic.
Follow up
Throughout the treatment your physiotherapists will complete regular follow up appointments. They may combine the lycra orthotic treatment with other therapies such as therapeutic exercise and hydrotherapy depending on your needs.
